Job Overview
We are looking for a Field Service Generator Engineer to join our team, providing on-site technical support, maintenance, and repair services for our fleet of stage V generators. The candidate must be self-driven, well-motivated and an experienced engineer who can work independently and as part of a team throughout the north west, north east and UK wide.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, diagnose, and repair diesel generators of varying sizes
- Carry out routine inspections and planned maintenance
- Perform breakdown response and fault-finding on customer sites
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in line with safety requirements
- Provide excellent customer service and represent Summit Power professionally
- Complete job sheets and service reports accurately and on time
- Support the wider team when required, including depot-based tasks when appropriate
Desirable Skills (although training is available):
- Installing, testing, and commissioning of new generators and associated equipment.
- Completing service reports, and timesheets accurately and within set timeframes. Participating in an on-call rotation for emergency repairs.
- Providing exceptional customer service and clear communication with clients and management.
- Adhering strictly to health, safety, and well-being standards in all aspects of work. Relevant qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of mechanical or electrical principles.
- Proficient in the use of generator engine control panels (Deep Sea) and laptop-based diagnostic software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites throughout the UK.
