Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food preparation, cooking, and delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Commis Chef will work under the supervision of senior chefs, assisting in various kitchen operations and supporting the overall efficiency of our restaurant.
Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring dishes meet quality standards and presentation requirements
- Support the team in food production, including portioning, garnishing, and plating dishes
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with hygiene regulations
- Follow all food safety procedures and health & safety guidelines diligently
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service periods
- Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and storage organisation
- Support supervising staff when required, contributing to a positive team environment
- Contribute to maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for guests through professional service support when needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment or hospitality setting is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Demonstrated passion for culinary arts and continuous learning in food production and cooking techniques
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a proactive attitude towards supporting colleagues
- Leadership qualities or supervising experience are advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to develop leadership skills is essential
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, food presentation, and serving procedures is desirable
- Flexibility to work shifts as required within a busy hospitality environment
