Duties
- Measure, cut, shape, and lay stone using hand tools such as chisels, hammers, and trowels to achieve precise fits and finishes
- Construct and repair stone walls, facades, arches, fireplaces, and other architectural features with accuracy and craftsmanship
- Mix mortar or other bonding agents to secure stones firmly in place while ensuring proper alignment and levelness
- Operate power tools including grinders, drills, and saws safely to facilitate efficient stone cutting and shaping
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other tradespeople such as carpenters and roofers to coordinate work sequences
- Inspect completed work for quality control, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, building codes, and design specifications
- Maintain a clean workspace by organizing tools and disposing of debris regularly
Skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as chisels, hammers, trowels, and levels for detailed stonework tasks
- Strong knowledge of stone techniques combined with masonry skills for various structural applications
- Experience working with power tools safely and effectively in a construction environment
- Familiarity with roofing processes that involve stone or masonry elements is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and physical stamina to handle demanding work conditions
