Role Overview
Ooni is looking for a Senior Compliance Manager (P4) to join our Quality, Compliance, and Test function. As an operational leader on the Professional Track, you will work independently on complex tasks and longer-term compliance deliverables. You take complete ownership of compliance timelines and drive successful outcomes for cross-functional strands of product development and line-management goals without the need for continual guidance. Thinking 6–12 months ahead, you align your functional work with individual and department priorities.
You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing execution of compliance operations, while directly mentoring, coaching, and advocating for the compliance engineering team to foster their professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership & Process Implementation: Responsible for the design, implementation, and effective ongoing execution of operations used to deliver your area's compliance priorities. Continually look to optimize delivery standards and ways of working (e.g., product development stage-gates, compliance tracing frameworks) to support the broader organizational strategy.
- Project Delivery & Governance: Implement and manage the certification process for assigned complex projects and hero projects, ensuring Ooni products meet strict regulatory requirements for global markets while taking full ownership of timelines and driving successful outcomes.
- People Management & Mentoring: Mentor and coach team members (including Compliance Engineers), fostering their professional growth in relation to capabilities in their current and next career bands. Effectively advocate for your team and functional area across the wider business.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Actively identify and maintain strong working relationships with peers in Engineering, Supply Chain, Legal, and Manufacturing. Articulate how remits overlap, influence, or impact each other, and proactively manage dependencies to ensure compliance risks are mitigated consistently.
- Strategy Contribution: Proactively contribute to shaping the team's strategy to support organizational goals by providing feedback and observations from day-to-day operations, technical learning, and stakeholder interactions.
- Decision Making & Data Analysis: Fairly assess inputs and operational data without prejudice to make rational, well-informed choices focused on your functional area. Consider the impact of decisions on other teams. Seek alternatives and rationalize choices using ROI calculations and other structured methods. Work collaboratively with senior leadership when handling incomplete or unreliable data.
- Influential Communication: Tailor communication methods and styles to ensure that key compliance messages and regulatory impacts are received and understood by a wide range of stakeholders and personalities. Appropriately summarize complex or lengthy compliance briefs and confidently present information to the department or function as a whole.
Essential Skills & Experience
- People Leadership & Advocacy: Proven track record of providing task-based mentorship, coaching team members, and effectively managing and advocating for a technical or professional functional team.
- Operational Management: Demonstrated experience in designing and executing compliance workflows, tracking department deliverables, managing project risks, and aligning work within a broader Quality Management System (QMS).
- Regulatory & Compliance Frameworks: Strong working knowledge of global product compliance regulations and safety principles common for consumer goods and appliances (e.g., GAR, CE/UL, FCC/IC, REACH, RoHS, PFAS, and Food Contact Materials).
- Analytical Problem Solving: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to adapt quickly, seek operational solutions to unfamiliar tasks or unforeseen circumstances, and utilize structured tools like Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) or ROI calculations to guide team outcomes.
- Inclusive Communication: Ability to account for different personalities, levels of experience, and perspectives to communicate complex information simply, clearly, and persuasively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
