Equans currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer (Water) to join our facilities team providing maintenance at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. This is a permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:30 with a 30 minute unpaid break. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
- Reporting to the Performance and Technical Compliance Manager
- Working closely with the Water RP, the role involves daily supervision of water hygiene team delivering maintenance activities as per the Written Scheme of Control in line with the HTM
- Responsible for the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of water systems, associated plant/equipment installed throughout the site
- To undertake training and qualify (and maintain appointment) as an Authorised, Responsible Person for Water and Pool Plant Operator.
- Ensure the water hygiene team carry out maintenance activities and highlight any discrepancies
- Manage, record and analyse water systems maintenance activities within Zetasafe digital application.
- To oversee specialist sub-contractors, and manage contractors as necessary, working to a safe system of work and permit-to-work system
- To ensure that PPM and Reactive tasks are attended to in accordance with the contract timescales at all times.
Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, 0700-1530 / 1000-1830, shift times alternating weekly.

Who are we looking for?
- Must hold a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience; plumbing experience essential
- Prior supervisory experience is essential
- Must have a thorough understanding of engineering building services installation and maintenance techniques.
- Good knowledge of M&E testing, fault finding, maintenance, refurbishment and install.
- Must be able to work independently and when appropriate as part of a team.
- Willing to attain cross skilling
- Ability to read technical drawings and diagnose technical faults
- Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
- IT literate, and ambition for personal development
