Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and fully qualified Secondary English Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 9 through 12. This dynamic role involves delivering engaging English language arts instruction, fostering a love for literature, and developing students’ critical thinking, creative writing, and communication skills. Duties
- Design and implement comprehensive English curriculum aligned with educational standards, incorporating creative writing, journalism, and proofreading components.
- Deliver engaging lessons that motivate students to explore literature, develop analytical skills, and express ideas clearly through various mediums.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively using proactive behavior management strategies to create a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Provide individualized support through tutoring sessions, especially for students requiring additional help in literacy or math integration.
- Mentor and collaborate with fellow teachers on best practices for teaching English and supporting special education needs.
- Assess student progress regularly through assignments, tests, and projects; provide constructive feedback to promote growth.
- Organize extracurricular activities such as writing clubs or journalism projects to foster student creativity and teamwork.
Experience
- Fully qualified secondary school teacher certification with a focus on English Language Arts or related field.
- Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level, demonstrating strong communication skills and classroom management.
- Experience mentoring students or colleagues, with an emphasis on fostering academic growth and personal development.
- Knowledge of special education strategies to support diverse learners effectively.
- Background in creative writing, journalism, proofreading, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Ability to integrate organizational skills into lesson planning routines for maximum efficiency.
- Familiarity with behaviour management techniques and tutoring methods that motivate student engagement in literacy and math skills development.
Pay: £45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2.0 per week
