Are you looking to develop and progress your career? Enjoy working in a supportive and innovative physiotherapy team? The specialist service for adults and older adults with severe and enduring mental ill health in Fife is looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our team.
The physiotherapy service is based at Stratheden Hospital, Cupar and provides input to both adult and older adult inpatients and those living in the community, as part of a larger multidisciplinary team. We also have input into the forensic service within Stratheden.
The people on your caseload will all have severe and enduring mental ill health, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, severe depression and anxiety, personality disorders and dementia, and would find it challenging to access mainstream Physiotherapy services. Some may have multiple co-morbidities and complex communication difficulties.
We see people with a large variety of physical health conditions including falls, MSK issues, orthopaedics, FND, chronic pain and obesity on top of their severe and enduring mental ill health. We also offer exercise and activity therapy for improved physical and mental health, including walking groups, cycling groups, ward based exercise groups, tai chi, badminton and gym sessions within a fully equipped fitness gym. We work closely with the dietician and other MDT members providing a service promoting physical activity/healthy lifestyle to all. We are keen to look at different ways of working and using our skills at advanced levels.
This is a challenging but rewarding role with support including funding when appropriate for career development. Experience working with people within mental health is not vital, but a desire to work with this client group and a knowledge and understanding of their needs is important. Training in physical interventions/breakaway training is included in your mandatory training.
The ability to travel throughout Fife during the working day is essential to this post.
