Pay: £150 – £200 per day (Paid Weekly)
About Us
At Garden Rooms 365, we design and build bespoke, high-quality garden rooms across Essex. We pride ourselves on exceptional craftsmanship, reliability, and delivering a premium finish for our clients. We are expanding our team and looking for a highly skilled and dependable builder/carpenter to lead site installations from the ground up.
The Role
This is a hands-on, varied role requiring a strong background in general building, steel/timber framing, and carpentry. You will be responsible for transforming a patch of grass into a fully finished, watertight, and insulated garden room. We have consistent, year-round work for the right person.
Key Responsibilities:
- Groundworks: Preparing the site, installing ground screw foundations or concrete bases.
- Structural Framing: Erecting lightweight gauge steel frames for the main garden room structures, and timber framing for the surrounding decking areas.
- Exterior Work: Fitting EPDM rubber roofing, installing premium cladding (e.g., Cedar, composite), and fitting UPVC/aluminium doors and windows.
- Internal Finishing: Installing rigid insulation, plasterboarding, and fitting skirting/architraves.
- Ensuring the site is kept clean, safe, and entirely secure at the end of each day.
- Liaising professionally with clients, representing the high standards of Garden Rooms 365.
What We Are Looking For
We do not want corner-cutters. We need someone with a keen eye for detail who takes pride in their work.
- Experience: Proven background in carpentry, joinery, or building. Specific experience building garden rooms, outbuildings, or working with lightweight gauge steel is a massive advantage.
- Skills: Confident reading plans and setting out. Ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
- Tools & Transport: Must have your own comprehensive set of tools and your own reliable transport (a car is absolutely fine, as long as it gets you and your tools to the site).
- Licence: Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
- Employment Status: Must be registered for CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) and responsible for your own tax.
- Reliability: Punctual, hardworking, and capable of handling the physical demands of outdoor construction in all weather conditions.
