We are seeking a detailed oriented Financial Controller (30 hours per week) to join our clients finance team. The role could be undertaken over 4 or 5 days per week with one day working from home. This position will be reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and the successful candidate will be responsible for all financial reporting within the business. Primary functions will be ensuring the business maintains robust financial records and controls and meets group deadlines for all reporting whilst maintaining inventory costing records to help the business understand performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the month-end financial close, reconciliations, management accounts, and statutory reporting.
- Partner with the CFO and head office to align with Group reporting standards, budgets, and forecasts.
× Lead the annual standard cost revaluation process, and help the finance team ensure that the Bills of Materials and labour routings are maintained accurately within the ERP system (D365), including the calculations of direct labour rates and indirect overhead recovery rates
× Preparation of all variance reporting (Purchase Price Variance, production/industrial variances reporting etc) and also provide suggestions to the wider business for cost savings opportunities and possible improvements that are identified from this reporting
× Lead the Monthly sales margin review process and liaise with sales and purchasing managers to help the company maximise profit and cashflow
- Work closely with the rest of the UK finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, tax regulations, and group policies.
- Support strategic projects as required such as ERP upgrades, process automation, and operational efficiency programmes.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer with any other adhoc tasks as required
Key Performance Indicators:
× Timely delivery of accurate financial reporting for both Group and the UK business
× Maintenance of a robust and accurate standard costing system
× Purchase price variances
× Industrial production variances (labour efficiencies, inventory adjustments, scrap etc)
× Sales margins
Requirements:
Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with proven experience in a manufacturing environment that uses Bills of Materials and Labour routings
Strong knowledge of UK GAAP
Well organised with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Ability and willingness to interrogate ERP systems, with a “can do” attitude
Excellent analytical and numerical skills, along with Advanced Excel skills
D365 experience preferrable but not essential
Excellent communication skills and proven track record of being an effective business partner across all departments
