Moving On – Dispersed Houses
This part of the service relates to 4 shared houses (3 in Preston and 1 in Lancaster) that provide accommodation to up to 13 young people. The houses are owned by Registered Social Landlords and Barnardo's are the managing agent for these premises. All of the young people who live in the houses are 18-25 and have often moved into them as the next step in their journey to independence , having previously lived in supported accommodation with a higher level of support.
Initial Specific Responsibilities
We wish to identify a new team member to join our small team of reliable and high-quality workers, to lead in the delivery of the service.
The successful candidate will be highly skilled at working with young people who have a range of issues. They will be able to work effectively, often on their own, regularly visiting a supported accommodation environment, to ensure the young people are safe and able to develop their independent living skills.
The successful candidate will be working within a small team to provide weekly visits to each of the houses to maintain good accommodation standards and the health and safety of the houses and young people. This will include completing house checks, reporting and chasing up repairs, light cleaning duties and any other tasks that are required for the houses to run smoothly. The successful candidate will also be assisting young people in completing essential tasks such as resolving benefit issues and registering with social housing and will be involved in assisting young people with developing their independent living skills.
The successful candidate will take a lead role in managing aspects of the work, including some staff members and buildings. This will include coordinating planned and unplanned move ins and move outs from the accommodation.
This is a senior role, and as such the successful candidates will be:
- effective at making assessment of need and risk as well as suitability of placements
- highly skilled in managing complex safeguarding issues within multi-agency frameworks.
- committed to having service user participation as a core value within their practice
- skilled at resolving issues and avoiding placement breakdowns
