Sutton and District Training (SDT) is a post 16 education provider, which has been running in the London borough of Sutton for 25 years. Our cohort is made up of young people aged 16 – 19 or aged up to 25 if they have an Educational Health and Care Plan. We have a positions available in our Choices Centre in Rosehill, where we deliver qualifications in construction for EHCP/SEND young people alongside English and maths.
SDT are committed to support all young people, including those with SEND to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
The role of a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) is to work closely with assigned learner/s who have EHCP and support them in their learning and in making progress towards their EHCP outcomes.
Main responsibilities:
· Identify barriers to learning and find ways to overcome them to engage your student.
· Confidently challenge undesirable behaviours.
· Take guidance from tutors and be able to use initiative.
· Work as part of a supportive and cohesive team.
· Support the emotional and social development of students, reporting any concerns to the manager or Designated Safeguarding Lead.
· Work with vocational tutor to devise and implement strategies to work towards outcomes identified in student EHCP in the classroom.
· Facilitate Preparation for Adulthood/PHSE sessions.
· Support staff with planning, teaching and learning sessions, this will include preparing resources and setting up environment ready for sessions.
· Complete records on assigned learner/s progress both academically and personally.
· Attend 6 weekly progress reviews with assigned learner/s & Provision Map update meetings with line manager.
· Attend EHCP annual reviews and/or provide feedback for annual reviews
· Complete CPD to develop knowledge of the needs of the learners in class
Hours: Hours can vary based on the vocational department.

9.30am – 16.00pm
