Materials & Pre-Fabrication Coordinator Overview
Claraghlea Engineering is seeking an organised and practically minded person to coordinate steel purchasing, stock control and pre-fabrication activities within our workshop.
Working closely with management, machine operatives and fabrication supervisors, you will help ensure the correct materials and prepared components are available when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Forecast and order steel based on upcoming production requirements.
- Monitor stock levels, outstanding orders and supplier deliveries.
- Coordinate nesting, saw and plasma cutting, drilling and press-brake folding.
- Set priorities and liaise with machine operatives regarding upcoming work.
- Work with fabrication supervisors to ensure prepared components are ready for the next stage of production.
- Identify material shortages, drawing queries or potential delays.
- Maintain straightforward stock, purchasing and production records.
- Help improve material usage, workflow and production efficiency.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in steel fabrication, engineering or a similar manufacturing environment.
- A practical understanding of workshop production processes.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to plan ahead, manage changing priorities and solve problems.
- Basic computer skills.
Experience in steel purchasing, production planning, engineering drawings or nesting software would be beneficial, but training can be provided.
This role may suit an experienced machine operative, fabricator or workshop coordinator who is ready to take on greater responsibility for planning and organising pre-fabrication work.
Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
