We are hiring experienced night senior care assistants for our 24 bed care home located in Burnley, lancashire.
We currently have multiple openings with various days per week available
Roles and Responsibilities:
- To administer medication whilst on shift
- Support and deligate care staff on duty
- Report any incidents to the home manager
- Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Home
- Support clients who need assistance with washing and toileting, dressing & undressing.
- Help clients who have limited mobility of physical/learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided.
- Assist in the promotion of continence, providing comfort & dignity for Clients.
- Under the supervision & guidance of trained staff, care & report on the well being of clients.
- Assist in the delivery of care for clients who are dying or have a progressive illness.
- Read care planning needs for clients & complete written daily records as instructed by the trained staff.
- Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with clients and helping them to continue with hobbies and activities in the Home.
- Answer Nurse call system, giving assistance as required, as well as answering the door and telephone appropriately.
- Carry out regular checks on clients at intervals determined by trained staff.
- Closely monitor clients who may be confused and/or have behavioural problems due to learning difficulties.
- Make visitors welcome and give them refreshments and any assistance they may require.
- Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean & tidy, commodes empty, whilst adhering to the Homes disposal of waste policy.
- Clean & maintain equipment used by clients/relatives i.e. Wheelchairs hearing aids spectacles etc.
- If applicable, check clients clothing and rooms as named care worker and ensure that all clothing is clearly marked.
- Where relevant, those over 18 years and over may be required to escort clients during transport to and from their homes as well as social outgoings.
- Feed clients who need help. Serve meals, drink and wash up as requested/required.
- When not attending to clients use the time available to undertake domestic duties as required/requested.
- Report immediately to the Matron/Manager any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a client, colleague, self or other.
- Notify the Matron/Manager as soon as possible if the inability to work, and also on the return to work, from all periods of absence.
- Maintain complete confidentiality of all matters concerning the Home, clients, Staff and related work.
- Participate in staff and client meetings and attend training sessions as required.
- Understand and ensure the implementation of the Homes health & safety Policy, Emergency & Fire Procedure.
