KIDS INC NURSERIES - DEPUTY MANAGER
Reports To: Nursery Manager
Location: Aylesbury
Responsibility For: Senior Nursery Nurses, Nursery Nurses, Nursery Assistants, Catering Staff, Support Staff, Students and Volunteers.
Overall Purpose: To contribute to the achievement of nursery objectives through the provision of service excellence for families and staff, leading the management of the NVQ and other apprenticeship programmes and the Early Years assessments.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Managing Activities and Resources
1. To provide support to the nursery manager and to assist with the achievement of the nursery’s business plan, which reflects the overall targets and goals of the organisation.
2. To assist with monitoring the progress and achievements of the budget business plan.
3. To work with the staff team to review and evaluate nursery issues and identify proposed solutions.
4. To follow all company policies and procedures when undertaking any aspect of the role, including safeguarding children, behaviour management, equality and diversity, health and safety, finance, human resources, learning and development and other support related matters.
5. To complete all appropriate business administration including accounts management, HR related administration (e.g. performance management, absence management), suspensions and appraisals, operational reporting requirements, First Steps documentation and other relevant matters.
6. To assist in ensuring that all responsibilities in relation to managing health and safety are met, including risk assessments, serious incident reporting, maintaining and monitoring accident records, implementing procedural requirements, security, and all aspects of our health and safety management system, are met.
7. To actively contribute to initiatives to increase income generation through meeting or exceeding occupancy targets.
8. To develop and maintain open relationships with staff in the nursery team.
Staff Planning and Allocation
1. To complete weekly staff rota schedules.
2. To monitor the day to day deployment of staff within the nursery.
3. To support the planning and allocation of responsibility for work activities, taking account of abilities and development needs of the team members.

Early Years Practice
1. To have a thorough knowledge of Every Child Matters and the Ofsted Statutory Framework for the EYFS, the learning and development requirements including the seven areas of learning, assessment and the safeguarding and welfare requirements.
2. To follow Ofsted’s Early Years Foundation Stage at all times.
3. To develop the understanding and appreciation of all employees for the Kids Inc Nurseries Curriculum, ensuring this is reflected in actual practice.
Learning and Development
1. To manage the completion of set learning and development objectives for the nursery, which may be derived from policy, programme requirements or the individual needs analysis.
2. To assist and support staff studying for the NVQ qualification.
3. To co-ordinate the provision of organised or local training programmes within the nursery.
4. To manage the training programmes for the nursery, liaising with the human resources team and dealing with issues as appropriate.
5. To offer encouragement to staff in the proactive development of the curriculum and proactive within the rooms and nursery itself.
6. To promote loyalty.
7. To seek advice from the senior management team where appropriate.
Service Delivery
To manage and develop the Early Years Foundation Stage and the environment of the nursery in order to improve the experience for children, families and the staff team.
1. To assist the nursery manager in the development of relationships with clients of Kids Inc Nurseries.
2. To develop positive relationships with families, staff and external agencies in order to ensure excellent standards of service are provided at all times.
The Deputy Manager will follow and implement the company policies and procedures and be expected to work in a flexible way and as part of the team.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
