Chinese Speaking Credit Controller
Location: Warrington
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Working Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 8:30am – 4:30pm (37.5 hours per week)
Additional Requirements: Bank holiday cover on a team rota
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Chinese Speaking Credit Controller to join our Credit Control team in Warrington. This role is responsible for managing debtor accounts to maximise cash collection, minimise bad debt exposure, and maintain accurate sales ledger records.
The successful candidate will have strong reconciliation skills and experience working within a fast-paced, cash-driven environment, ideally within FMCG or foodservice. You will play a key role in resolving payment issues, managing credit risks, and building strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to support healthy cash flow across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Contact customers by telephone, email, and letter regarding outstanding balances
- Maintain regular communication with Sales Managers to review and address aged debt balances
- Update and maintain accurate sales ledger records and customer account information
- Negotiate payment terms and repayment arrangements with debtors
- Resolve customer payment disputes and queries efficiently
- Ensure cash collection and debtor targets are achieved
- Escalate overdue debt issues to the Credit Control Manager or Head of Transactions when required
- Manage high-volume foodservice sales accounts across multiple payment channels
- Process payment allocations within agreed service levels
- Manage shared mailboxes within agreed service levels
- Open new customer accounts and maintain account documentation
- Process credit notes accurately and in a timely manner
- Support Sales Agents with debt reporting
- Assist the Finance team with month-end, year-end, and audit activities
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency within the sales ledger function
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years’ Credit Control experience, ideally within FMCG, foodservice, or a similar fast-paced environment
- Fluent Chinese language skills
- Good English verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service and relationship management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Previous experience maintaining a sales ledger is preferred
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
- GCSE level education or equivalent
- CICM qualification desirable but not essential
