We specialise in nationwide roadside repairs and rescue of every type of vehicle, not only do we provide recovery, we also provide winching services for when vehicles either come off the road or are involved in road traffic accidents.
About the roll
we are seeking a skilled and reliable Class 1 recovery operator to join our recovery team based in Preston. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety and efficiency while recovering a wide range of vehicles mostly around Lancashire and the surrounding areas. This role requires a professional attitude in a fast paced environment.
Full training will be provided and you will be required to work on a week-on-week-off on call rota.
Responsibilities
- Strong timekeeping to ensure casualty vehicles & drivers are collected in good time.
- Daily driver checks prior to starting your day
- Prior and post condition reports when recovering casualty vehicles (Unless safety is compromised.)
- Load and unload vehicles securely, ensuring that all items are properly strapped down for transport.
- Keeping the recovery vehicle tidy
- Self-manage recovery jobs from acceptance to completion.
- Communicate effectively with our control room and other team members regarding time keeping and any potential issues.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to transportation and safety.
What we require
- Valid commercial driving licence (C+E or equivalent) is essential.
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- ADR licence preferred but not essential
- Proven experience as a recovery driver
- Flexibility due to the nature of breakdowns and able to work in all weather conditions
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently
- Good communication skills and a professional demeanour when interacting with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to handle physical demands associated with recovering HGV's.
- Able to pass DBS check
