Job Title: Service Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Rosyton
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Additional Requirements: Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required

Role Purpose
The Service Manager is responsible for the effective leadership, management, and development of a children’s residential home, ensuring high-quality, child-centred care in line with legislation, regulations, and best practice. The role focuses on safeguarding, compliance, staff management, and positive outcomes for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Provide strong, effective leadership to the staff team, promoting a positive and supportive working culture
- Manage, supervise, and support staff through regular supervision, appraisals, and training
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels, rota management, and staff development
- Lead by example and promote best practice in children’s care
Care & Safeguarding
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care that meets the emotional, physical, and developmental needs of children and young people
- Promote safeguarding and ensure all safeguarding concerns are acted upon promptly and appropriately
- Ensure children’s care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies are implemented and regularly reviewed
- Promote children’s rights, independence, and positive outcomes
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure the home complies with all relevant legislation, including the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections, ensuring the home meets or exceeds regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
- Monitor quality of care and implement continuous improvements
Operational & Administrative Duties
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the home
- Oversee incident reporting, complaints, and investigations
- Work in partnership with families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals
- Manage budgets and resources effectively
Working Hours & Flexibility
- Work Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Be flexible to work evenings and weekends when required to meet service needs
Person Specification
Essential
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Significant experience working in a children’s residential care setting
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
· Be able to undertake a full DBSD check
Desirable
- Experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager
- Experience managing Ofsted inspections
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches
