About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Working Site Foreman to join our growing team, overseeing and working alongside our site teams across a variety of construction projects in and around Kent.
This is a working foreman role, so the successful candidate will be comfortable leading a team while also being hands-on with groundworks and general construction activities. You will play a key role in ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while keeping projects on programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising and working alongside groundworkers, machine operators and other site personnel.
- Organising the day-to-day activities of the site team and allocating work effectively.
- Leading by example and being hands-on with groundworks and construction activities.
- Ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.
- Reading and working from drawings, specifications and site plans.
- Setting out works and checking levels where required.
- Overseeing excavation, foundations, drainage, concrete works and other groundworks.
- Coordinating plant, materials and labour to ensure the site operates efficiently.
- Liaising with Site Managers, Contracts Managers, subcontractors and other trades.
- Monitoring the quality of workmanship and ensuring works are completed to the required standard.
- Identifying and resolving issues on site before they affect progress.
- Maintaining good housekeeping and ensuring the site remains safe, clean and organised.
- Carrying out regular checks and ensuring the team follows all health and safety procedures.
- Assisting with site inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings where required.
- Reporting progress, issues and material requirements to the relevant management team.
- Ensuring deadlines and project programmes are met wherever possible.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- An experienced Site Foreman or Senior Groundworker ready to take the next step.
- Confident leading a team while remaining hands-on.
- Experienced in groundworks and general construction.
- Able to organise and motivate a site team effectively.
- A strong communicator who can work well with management, subcontractors and trades.
- Able to read drawings and understand construction specifications.
- Confident making decisions and solving problems on site.
- Reliable, organised and proactive.
- Safety-conscious with a strong understanding of construction site procedures.
- Able to work under pressure and manage changing priorities.
- Willing to travel between sites across Kent and surrounding areas.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship and professionalism.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Site Foreman, Working Foreman, Site Supervisor or Senior Groundworker.
- Strong groundworks and civil engineering experience.
- Relevant CSCS card.
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification would be advantageous.
- Experience with setting out and using levels/laser levels.
- Experience supervising plant operators and groundworkers.
- Relevant CPCS or NPORS qualifications would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
Pay: £21.00-£25.00 per hour
