Job Purpose
Action Housing & Support is looking to recruit a full-time Maintenance Officer to work within the Property Service Team, based in Rotherham covering all locations associated with the company.
The Team is responsible for the health and safety and day to day repairs & maintenance of all its properties, ensuring a good standard of accommodation is available to all tenants.
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Property Maintenance Officer to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for working within the maintenance department and ensuring that our properties are well-maintained, safe, and meet all necessary regulatory standards. The Property Maintenance Officer will work with property owners, tenants, staff and contractors.. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
Key Duties
- · To carry out the duties of this position as part of the Maintenance Team.
- · You must provide your own van for work purposes. Essential vehicle payments are provided at £125 per month, plus 45p per mile for mileage.
- · Ensure all repairs and inspections are carried out efficiently and within timescales.
- · To carry out regular Health and Safety checks on properties and respond effectively to Health and Safety issues. Any new issues identified must be reported back.
- · Carry out and complete all required work to the very highest standards of quality, and carry out works so as to protect our customers belongings and home, leaving all works areas tidy and free from debris.
- · To effectively adapt to the workload and liaise with the line management.
- · Work safely within the terms of our own safety manual and the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act etc, along with adopting any given best practice with regards to health & safety issues – Taking personal responsibility for own Health and Safety and awareness of protecting others
- · Work as part of a team, liaising with other teams, lead support workers, client support workers, housing officers and the estates team, to ensure that an excellent service is delivered at all times.
- · Liaise with clients whilst carrying out your duties in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
- · Complete all documentation accurately, using phones or electronic devices. For e.g. updating of works carried out, closing of jobs, timesheets, vehicle checks.
- · Play an active part, in achieving high first time fix on repairs, making every attempt to complete responsive repairs at the first visit.
- · To perform maintenance duties to the standards required by Action Housing.
- · To attend meetings internally and externally when requested
- · To undertake training as requested.
- · Take pride in your work, striving to attain a high level of excellence, in providing the above services.
- · To uphold the corporate image of Action Housing & Support by keeping vehicles in good order and clean, along with advising management of any vehicle issues as appropriate.
- · To have a flexible approach to working in order to deal with emergency situations, occasional extension to contracted hours.
- Ensure all works are undertaken in line with H&S requirements and that Risk Assessments and safe systems of work are followed and adhered to at all times.
- You are required to supply your own van for work purposes. An essential vehicle payment of £125 per month will be paid, along with a mileage rate of 45p per business mile. Your personal van will be covered under our business insurance policy, including both the vehicle and tools.

Essential
- Health & Safety Awareness
- Ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
- Proven ability to work on own initiative and evaluate situations effectively
- Extensive experience working in similar environment
- This post requires a Full and UK Driver’s License.
Desirable
- Related Building/Joinery qualification/Electrical/Plumbing (C&G, NVQ or equivalent)
- Willingness to work outside working hours where necessary
This post is full time - 36 hours per week
This role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check
