Chef - Baking & Kitchen
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Chef to join our team in the Bee Shed Coffee House at Lathcoats Farm, Galleywood. The ideal candidate will have passion for baking, be confident working in a fast-paced environment and take pride in producing high-quality food and cakes.
We pride ourselves by using as many local suppliers as possible. Our cakes and scones are all homemade and baked daily. Our menu includes full English breakfasts, paninis, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, homemade sausage rolls, soups and quiches.
This is a full-time position, working 37.5hours a week. Hours are 7.30am-3.00pm, worked over five days, including three Saturdays per month. We are closed Sundays and bank holidays.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to consistently high standard, working to a fast-ticketing order system
Bake a range of cakes, traybakes, scones and other sweet treats
Follow recipes accurately and ensure consistency in quality, portion size and presentation
Decorate and ice cakes to a high standard, including preparing cakes for special events and displays
Ensure food is prepared, stored and labelled in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards
Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen at all times
Monitor waste and use ingredients efficiently
Work closely with wider kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth day-to day service
Complete daily cleaning and kitchen checks as required
Ensuring compliance with food safety, HACPP and health and safety procedures
You will ideally have:
Had previous experience working as a chef in a similar environment
Strong baking experience and cake-decorating skills and a genuine interest in baking
High Level of attention to detail and take pride in presentation
Good food hygiene knowledge and an understanding of kitchen safety
Excellent organisational skills, able to work well as part of a team and have a positive flexible approach to work
Strong understanding of food allergens, cross-contamination and safe food handling procedures
