Hours: 15 hours per week- split into the following shifts: 6:30am – 8:30am and 6pm to 7pm. 44 weeks per year split into the following hours during school holidays:
• 30 hours at Summer • 15 hours at Christmas • 15 hours at Easter • 5 hours February • 5 hours May • 5 hours October. • (75 hours in total through school holidays) • 5 inset days
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated School Caretaker to maintain the safety, cleanliness, and overall appearance of our school premises. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the environment is welcoming, secure, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities
- Carry out routine cleaning and maintenance of classrooms, corridors, toilets, and communal areas to high standards.
- Conduct regular checks of the school's heating, lighting, and plumbing systems to ensure proper functioning.
- Manage security procedures including locking/unlocking premises and monitoring CCTV systems.
- Report any repairs or maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate department or contractor.
- Ensure outdoor areas are tidy and free from hazards by maintaining grounds and playgrounds.
- Assist with setting up for school events or activities as required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks completed and safety checks carried out.
- Follow health and safety policies diligently to ensure a secure environment for all users of the school.
Skills
- Proven experience in building maintenance, cleaning, or caretaking roles is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also being a team player.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to school environments.
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks such as lifting, moving equipment, or outdoor grounds work.
