The Specialist Cleaning & Mobile Support Operative is responsible for delivering specialist, periodic and reactive cleaning services across a range of client locations.
This is a physically demanding, hands-on role involving cleaning work both inside and outside in varying weather conditions. Duties include window cleaning, carpet cleaning, deep cleaning, floor care, car park cleaning and providing cover for office-cleaning teams.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently, travelling between client locations and operating professional cleaning equipment safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake internal and external window cleaning using traditional methods and water-fed pole systems.
- Complete window-cleaning work safely and in accordance with risk assessments and approved working methods.
- Carry out professional carpet and upholstery cleaning using appropriate machinery and cleaning products.
- Complete scheduled and reactive deep-cleaning assignments across offices, washrooms, communal areas, warehouses and other commercial environments.
- Operate floor-scrubbing and floor-care machinery safely and effectively.
- Complete floor treatments, including stripping, scrubbing, sealing, polishing and applying protective finishes.
- Provide cleaning cover at client sites during employee absence, annual leave, sickness or operational emergencies.
- Complete routine office-cleaning duties, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, washroom cleaning, kitchen cleaning, waste removal and replenishment of consumables.
- Carry out internal and external car park cleaning, including litter picking, sweeping, pressure washing and removing general surface contamination.
- Work outside throughout the year and in varying weather conditions, subject to safe working practices.
- Respond to urgent, reactive and specialist-cleaning requirements as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Undertake biohazard cleaning tasks where required, following appropriate training and the provision of task-specific instructions and protective equipment.
- Complete service records, site paperwork, equipment checks and other operational documentation accurately.
- Take photographs and provide service reports where required to confirm that work has been completed.
- Report property damage, defective equipment, safety hazards, accidents and client concerns promptly.
- Maintain company vehicles, machinery and equipment in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.
- Store, handle and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with COSHH assessments, product instructions and company procedures.
- Maintain professional and courteous communication with clients, employees and members of the public.
- Secure client premises and comply with site-specific access, alarm, keyholding, security and confidentiality requirements.
- Undertake other reasonable cleaning and operational duties consistent with the nature of the role.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding position. The successful candidate must be able to:
- Remain active and on their feet for extended periods.
- Regularly walk, bend, stretch, kneel, reach and carry out repetitive cleaning movements.
- Lift, carry, load and unload cleaning equipment and supplies safely.
- Operate floor-cleaning, carpet-cleaning, pressure-washing and water-fed pole equipment.
- Work safely inside and outside commercial premises.
- Work outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions.
- Move between different areas and floors within client buildings.
- Complete sustained cleaning tasks to the required standard within allocated times.
- Wear the personal protective equipment required for individual tasks.
Any manual-handling activity must be completed within the employee’s training and the company’s safe working procedures.
