Hilton & Moss was founded on a passion for classic and performance cars. Based in Bishop’s Stortford, our state-of-the-art facilities house some of the world’s rarest and most desirable vehicles. The site includes a two-storey showroom, a 150-car secure storage facility, and fully equipped workshops dedicated to restoration, servicing, machining, engine building, interior trimming and race car preparation.
Job Overview
This role is suited to an experienced technician who already understands the demands of restoration work and takes pride in delivering vehicles to the highest possible standard.
In this position you will take a leading role in restoration projects, including:
- Full vehicle strip-down and assessment
- Mechanical rebuilding of engines, gearboxes and driveline systems
- Suspension, steering and braking system restoration
- Fault-finding and repair of classic electrical systems
- Supporting project planning and building timelines
- Carrying out final quality checks before handover
- Mentoring junior technicians where appropriate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in classic vehicle restoration
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently to a high standard
- Experience with period vehicle systems and components
- Good understanding of sympathetic restoration methods
- Ability to solve complex technical issues
- Passion for classic and historic vehicles
- Full UK driving licence
Experience in the following is desirable:
- Carburettor tuning
- Engine rebuilding
- Wiring loom repair
- Fabrication
- Performance and concours-level preparation
