Motor Vehicle Mechanic / Technician
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Motor Vehicle Mechanic / Technician to join our busy and growing workshop team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who takes pride in their work and has a strong background in vehicle servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs. You will work on a wide range of cars and light commercial vehicles, carrying out mechanical and electrical repairs to a high standard.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and able to diagnose faults efficiently while maintaining excellent standards of workmanship and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and hands-on inspection
- Repair and replace components including brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust systems, clutches, timing belts/chains and other mechanical parts
- Carry out engine and transmission-related repairs where required
- Perform vehicle health checks and identify additional repair or maintenance requirements
- Use diagnostic tools and technical information to accurately identify faults
- Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams and manufacturer specifications
- Carry out repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and workshop procedures
- Conduct road tests where necessary to confirm faults and ensure repairs have been completed correctly
- Maintain accurate job cards and records of work carried out
- Keep tools, equipment and the workshop clean, organised and safe
- Work efficiently to meet agreed repair times and workshop schedules
- Communicate clearly with workshop management regarding vehicle faults, repair requirements and parts needed
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and customer service at all times
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working as a Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Vehicle Technician or Automotive Technician
- Strong mechanical knowledge and fault-finding ability
- Experience servicing and repairing cars and/or light commercial vehicles
- Confident using vehicle diagnostic equipment
- Good understanding of modern vehicle mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Ability to work safely in a busy workshop environment
- Full UK driving licence preferred
Qualifications
Relevant motor vehicle qualifications such as NVQ Level 2, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent are preferred.
However, we are also interested in hearing from experienced mechanics and technicians who can demonstrate strong practical ability and industry experience.

Pay: £31,200.00-£60,000.00 per year
