The Opportunity
We are looking for a detail-focused Assistant Buyer to be at the heart of our procurement team! You’ll manage purchase orders, work closely with project teams and suppliers, and help keep everything running smoothly across multiple sites. You’ll also get involved in tenders, supplier relationships, and sourcing opportunities—making a real impact while learning, growing, and driving innovation in our supply chain.

What you will be doing
Operational
- Raise POs from central appointed preferred supplier agreements.
- Management and execution of order requisitions received from sites.
- Working alongside and liaising with project teams.
- dealing with enquiries from sites regarding deliveries and orders.
- Effective process management to ensure efficiencies in purchase orders, to minimise invoice enquiries.
- Help to identify and deliver value adding opportunities from the supply chain.
- Assisting with tender submissions to include obtaining tender quotes and undertaking quote analysis.
- Liaising with Procurement and wider functions to promote new opportunities and innovation.
- Assist other members of the Procurements team as and when required.
- Compliance to all company processes and procedures.
Strategic
- Act as an ambassador for the Procurement and Supply Chain function with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Assist with supporting project through advice and early engagement to ensure value is maximised and risk is managed from the outset.
- Support the production of project Procurement plans, identifying and mitigating risk where appropriate.
- Facilitating local implementation of the wider group Procurement and Supply Chain strategies.
- Monitor local compliance and preferred supplier agreements and report findings to the P&SC Manager.
- Develop relationships with the Supply Chain to foster innovation.
- Support implementation of wider group strategies in ESG, Modern Slavery and Sustainability.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Experience of working within a national or multi-site environment
- Good IT skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Power BI is also helpful.
- Experience of ERP systems.
- Engaging communicator demonstrating influencing skills and an ability to adapt approaches to differing audiences.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-motivating and able to act on own initiative.
- Good oral and written communication skill.
- A methodical, systematic and local approach.
- Focus and driver to achieve targets and results.
- Knowledge of digital approaches in Procurements such as AI and ecommerce and Power BI.
- Willing to work towards KPI's
