Part Time Early Years SEND Assistant (temporary contract)
21 hours per week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) 7 hour shifts - 9-5pm possible opportunities for additional hours across the nursery as a practitioner.
We are seeking an immediately available SEND Assistant to offer 1:1 support for a child of ours with Autism that is due to start school in September.
Personal or professional experience of helping/teaching a child with Autism will be considered.
The role will involve carrying out the below tasks:
- Adapt support according to child's needs
- Look after children's physical, social and emotional welfare
- Create an interesting environment for the child
- Keep records and attend review meetings where applicable
- Work with professionals if required
You'll need:
- Sensitivity and understanding
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- To enjoy working with other people
- To be flexible and open to change
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- The ability to understand people’s reactions
- Active listening skills
As this is a short term contract, you will need to be available immediately to start and having either worked or personal experience of helping/teaching children with SEND.
There may be the opportunity for you to stay on with the nursery after this contract finishes but it will be as a nursery assistant working across the nursery.
