Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and presentation. This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and the ability to manage a busy kitchen environment effectively. The Head Chef will play a vital role in maintaining the restaurant’s reputation for excellence and delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, including chefs and kitchen assistants, to ensure efficient operations
- Plan and develop innovative menus that meet customer preferences and dietary requirements
- Oversee food production, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation
- Manage food safety protocols in compliance with health regulations and company policies
- Coordinate daily kitchen activities, including ordering supplies, inventory management, and maintaining cleanliness
- Train staff on food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and service standards
- Monitor cooking processes to ensure consistency in taste, texture, and visual appeal
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Maintain a positive working environment that promotes teamwork and professional development
Requirements
- Proven supervising experience within a busy culinary environment, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and food safety standards
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing a team effectively
- Knowledge of food production processes and kitchen organisation
- Excellent understanding of hospitality operations and customer service principles
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
- Experience in menu development and innovation
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and hygiene in the kitchen
- Relevant qualifications in culinary arts or hospitality management are desirable but not essential
- Experience working with cooking steak and using the grill is preferred
