Security & Guest Safety Officer
Location: The Centre
Shift Pattern: Between 07:30 and 20:30
Hours: Average 38.5 hours per week, based on an 8-week rota (4 days on, 4 days off)
Hourly Pay Rate: £15.08
Pay Date: Salary paid on the 7th of each month
The Role

We are seeking an outgoing, vigilant, and highly professional Security & Guest Safety Officer to join our team at The Centre. In this role, you will be much more than a security presence—you will be a key ambassador for the centre, helping to create a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for our guests, retailers, and colleagues.
Whether responding to an incident, assisting a visitor, or managing a challenging situation, you will demonstrate professionalism, confidence, and excellent customer service at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Proactive Security
- Conduct regular internal and external patrols to maintain a safe and secure environment for shoppers, retailers, and staff.
- Identify and report potential security, safety, or maintenance concerns.
Incident Management
- Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security-related situations.
- Follow site procedures and maintain accurate records of all incidents.
Conflict Resolution
- Use effective communication and de-escalation techniques to manage confrontational situations and maintain order.
Guest Services
- Act as a brand ambassador for The Centre by providing directions, assistance, and a welcoming presence for visitors.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional security presence.
Reporting & Administration
- Complete detailed and accurate documentation, including incident reports, witness statements, and first aid records.
- Maintain professional radio communication with the Control Room and site management.
Requirements
Essential
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
- CCTV Licence.
- Current ACT (Action Counters Terrorism) Awareness Training certificate (copy required for site records).
- Current First Aid qualification (copy required for site records).
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; reporting ability will be assessed.
- Ability to provide a 5-year checkable work and/or education history to meet BS7858 vetting requirements.
- Physically capable of remaining on your feet for extended periods and undertaking manual handling duties.
- Professional, resilient, and calm under pressure.
Desirable
- Previous experience in Guest Services, retail security, shopping centres, or other customer-facing security environments.
