Senior IT Analyst Job Description
Position Overview:
The Senior IT Analyst at Maintenance and Contracting Services Ltd (MCS) is responsible for providing advanced technical support, implementing and managing IT solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem, and contributing to continuous service improvement initiatives. This role combines Microsoft technology expertise with service management principles aligned with ITIL v4 framework to ensure business uptime and drive efficiency.
Reporting Structure: Reports to Head of IT
Key Responsibilities:
Microsoft Platform Management
- Administer and optimize Microsoft 365 environment including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and related services.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Business Central.
- Configure and manage Microsoft security features including Defender, and conditional access policies.
- Implement and maintain Intune solutions.
- Implement and maintain Entra ID Directory and identity management solutions.
Service Operations
- Provide tier 1/2/3 technical support for complex IT issues across the technology stack
- Manage and resolve incidents according to defined SLAs, prioritizing business-critical systems
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement permanent solutions
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles
- Monitor system performance and availability to proactively identify potential issues
Service Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process automation using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps)
- Implement and configure new Microsoft solutions in line with business requirements
- Participate in project teams to deliver technology improvements
- Evaluate new Microsoft technologies and provide recommendations for adoption
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT service management practices
Security and Compliance
- Ensure Microsoft environments comply with company policies and industry regulations
- Conduct regular security assessments using Microsoft security tools and address identified vulnerabilities
- Maintain backup and disaster recovery systems for Microsoft workloads
- Participate in IT disaster recovery testing and business continuity planning
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a technical liaison between IT department and business units for Microsoft platforms
- Provide expert advice to business stakeholders on Microsoft technology solutions
- Develop and deliver training to end-users on Microsoft systems and applications
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization regarding IT services
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of progressive IT experience with at least 2 years in a Microsoft-focused analyst role
- Microsoft certifications (required: Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, preferred: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert)
- ITIL v4 Foundation certification (Preferred)
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft 365 administration, Azure cloud services, and Dynamics 365
- Business Central
- Experience with Microsoft security solutions and identity management
- Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation of Microsoft environments
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Project management experience preferreenvironment for all employees.
Pay: £32,000.00-£37,500.00 per year
