Mill Operative

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, days only
Essential requirement: Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence
About the role
Howarth Winterbrook is looking for a reliable and hard-working Mill Operative to join our production team. This is a practical, hands-on role involving the safe operation of milling equipment, quality checks, production paperwork and general support across the production process.
The role may also involve loading and unloading vehicles using a forklift truck when required, so a valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence is essential.
Key responsibilities
· Operate mill equipment safely and efficiently in line with company procedures.
· Produce products to the required quality specifications.
· Carry out product sampling and testing as required.
· Complete production paperwork and associated records accurately.
· Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
· Report machine breakdowns, faults, maintenance needs and quality concerns promptly.
· Assist with basic maintenance and support material and stock planning when required.
· Safely load and unload vehicles using a forklift truck when required.
· Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
What we are looking for
· Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence.
· Previous experience in a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
· Strong commitment to health and safety.
· Good attention to detail and quality standards.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Reliable, punctual and flexible approach to work.
· Good communication and record-keeping skills.
· Ability to carry out some heavy lifting, up to 25kg, as required.
