Support Worker - We are looking for a caring, reliable and compassionate Support Worker to provide support to a 30-year-old disabled woman in her home and within the community. This is an important role for someone who enjoys helping others, is patient and understanding, and is committed to supporting an individual to live as independently and positively as possible. The role will involve providing practical and emotional support with day-to-day activities, while encouraging independence, confidence and participation in the community. Hours and Shift Pattern Approximately 1–3 shifts per week, depending on requirements and availability 20-hour shifts, from 11:00am until 7:00am the following morning Shifts include a sleep-in period Additional shifts may be available to provide holiday and sickness cover Flexibility and reliability are important, particularly when providing cover for other Support Workers Duties The Support Worker will provide support with a range of daily activities, which may include: Preparing and cooking meals and encouraging healthy eating Supporting with household tasks such as cleaning, tidying, laundry and general organisation Supporting with medication in accordance with the appropriate medication plan and procedures Providing personal care and assistance when required, while maintaining dignity, privacy and respect Supporting with morning and evening routines Encouraging independence and allowing the individual to do as much for herself as possible Providing companionship and emotional support Encouraging participation in activities and hobbies that she enjoys Supporting and encouraging her to go out into the community, including walks, shopping, appointments, activities and other outings Helping her maintain social connections and take part in enjoyable activities Providing reassurance and support during difficult or challenging moments Helping to maintain a safe, comfortable and positive home environment Communicating effectively with family members and other members of the care/support team Keeping accurate records, including relevant daily notes, medication records and details of any incidents or concerns Supporting the individual during overnight periods as required and responding appropriately if assistance is needed during the night The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Caring, patient and compassionate Reliable, trustworthy and responsible Respectful of the individual's privacy, dignity and independence Comfortable providing practical support within someone's home Confident supporting personal care when required Comfortable supporting medication in line with agreed procedures Positive and encouraging, with a genuine interest in helping someone enjoy an active and fulfilling life Happy to support outings, walks and activities within the community Able to work independently while also communicating effectively with family and other support staff Calm and reassuring when faced with challenging or unexpected situations Flexible and willing to provide holiday and sickness cover where possible Experience Previous experience working as a Support Worker, Carer, Personal Assistant or in a similar role is desirable. Experience of supporting disabled adults, providing personal care, administering or supporting medication, and working within someone's home would be advantageous. However, the most important qualities are compassion, reliability, patience, respect and a genuine desire to make a positive difference. Training and appropriate guidance can be provided where required, depending on the individual's needs and the responsibilities of the role.
