Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Stock Controller to join our Birmingham operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining accurate stock levels across the warehouse, chiller, and freezer areas. This is a hands-on role requiring both administrative accuracy and active physical presence in warehouse environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular stock checks, cycle counts, and full stock takes across all departments (ambient, chilled, and frozen).
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, liaising closely with warehouse supervisors and goods-in teams.
- Ensure all stock adjustments and transfers are processed accurately within the ERP or warehouse management system.
- Maintain clear and accurate stock records for audits and management reports.
- Work closely with the operations team to identify causes of stock loss, damage, or shrinkage and suggest improvements.
- Support replenishment, bin location accuracy, and warehouse organisation.
- Ensure correct product rotation (FIFO) and assist in quality control checks where required.
- Report low stock or potential shortages to the purchasing team in a timely manner.
- Comply with all health & safety, food hygiene, and temperature control standards.
Skills & Requirements
- Previous experience in a warehouse, stock control, or inventory management role (foodservice or wholesale sector preferred).
- Computer literacy is essential – must be confident using Excel, email systems, and ERP/WMS software.
- Experience with any ERP or warehouse management system is desirable, but full training will be provided.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with great attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider warehouse team.
- Physically fit and comfortable working in cold environments, including chillers and freezers.
- Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday
- Training period: 9:00am – 5:00pm
- Post-training: 8:00am – 6:00pm
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.71 per hour
