Rotherwood Cares are currently recruiting on behalf of a new children’s residential service opening in Nelson, Lancashire. We are seeking an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader to join the team and play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for children and young people.

The Role:
As a Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader, you will support the Registered Manager and wider team in delivering high-quality residential care to children and young people with emotional, behavioural, and complex needs.
You will take a lead role within the home, supporting staff, maintaining high standards of care, and ensuring each young person receives consistent, individualised support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day running of the children’s home
- Provide guidance, support, and leadership to Residential Support Workers
- Act as a positive role model for the team
- Build trusting and professional relationships with children and young people
- Support young people with emotional and behavioural needs
- Contribute to care plans, reviews, and daily records
- Support the management of challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies
- Act as a Key Worker for allocated young people
- Promote independence, choice, dignity, and positive outcomes
- Support new staff through induction and ongoing development
- Ensure safeguarding procedures and company policies are followed
- Work alongside families, professionals, and external agencies where required
Essential Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must have:
✅ Previous experience working within Children’s Residential Care
✅ Minimum 1 year’s experience in a children’s residential setting
✅ Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs
✅ Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
✅ Ability to support and motivate a team
✅ Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
✅ A commitment to providing high-quality, child-centred care
Essential:
Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle
Desirable:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Experience supporting young people with EBD, trauma, self-harm, or complex needs
- Experience working within a therapeutic residential environment
