Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer – Join Our Bakery Team!
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role at the heart of our operations. As an Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in keeping our bakery and retail sites running smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
You’ll work across our main bakery and retail stores, combining hands-on engineering expertise with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
Maintenance & Repairs
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns across our retail sites, minimising disruption
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to keep everything running at its best
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems
- Take a proactive approach to fault-finding to reduce downtime and prevent repeat issues
- Keep clear, accurate maintenance records
Equipment & Projects
- Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment
- Play an active role in store refits and bakery improvement projects
- Stay up to date with new technologies and equipment innovations
- Provide technical expertise and practical support to the wider team
Operational Support
- Provide flexible support across the bakery and retail network
- Work across multiple locations based on business needs
- Help reduce reliance on external contractors through strong in-house capability
- Collaborate closely with retail teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all work meets engineering standards and legal requirements
- Follow Engineering SOPs at all times
- Champion Health & Safety and Food Safety best practices
- Carry out inspections to maintain a safe, compliant working environment
Communication & Teamwork
- Keep the Engineering Manager updated on key issues and risks
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and colleagues
- Work cross-functionally to drive efficiency and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
- Electrically biased with strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- A logical, methodical approach with great attention to detail
- Strong understanding of manufacturing environments and operational impact
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of the business
- Well-organised, with the ability to prioritise and perform under pressure
- Confident using IT systems (Microsoft Office, Teams, ERP systems)
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
