Job Requirements
ROLE PURPOSE
We have an exciting opportunity to support analysis and development of a key structure component for a future civil aerospace gas turbine.
The role is to deliver Impact, Containment and Buckling analysis of a composite structural component, and provide suggestions and recommendations.
To successfully perform this activity requires working knowledge (direct experience) of meshing components for FEA, and running complex dynamic analyses using Ansys LS-DYNA. Additionally the the ability to effectively make and communicate judgements, recommendations on future progress, is required (using post-processing outputs as appropriate). Previous knowledge and experience of composite components is also desirable.
The individual will join a multi-skilled FEA team who deliver a variety of concurrent FEA work packages for a Gas Turbine OEM client.
Permanent or temporary employee contract will be considered for this position. Location is UK, Derby, and work is 100% in office due to proximity to specialist IT systems
JOB REQUIREMENT:

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

Understanding boundary conditions, material property attributes, and design / mechanical limit criteria

Meshing FE components using structural meshes

Running complex dynamic analyses in Ansys LS-DYNA

Make judgements and effectively communicate recommendations, supported by appropriate post-processing outputs

Basic Project management / planning

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS (ESSENTIAL TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE)
Experience
Applicants should have a proven background in FEA component analysis, using Ansys LS-DYNA.

- Understand the behaviour and limitations of materials within structural systems, including composites
- Knowledge on system behaviour under impact loading
- Knowledge of composite failure & analysis methods
Tool Knowledge
Ansys LS-DYNA
Qualifications
Masters degree in Engineering (e.g. Aeronautical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering) or equivalent experience in a gas turbine OEM, or similar relevant industry
