The Professional Services Support team in the School for Business and Society are one of the largest academic PSS teams at the University of York. The successful candidate will support not only a large academic community but a vibrant and diverse student body. We are seeking to recruit a new PSS team member to work in a busy and varied role that will suit someone with strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and a professional attitude
The role of Student Services Assistant involves supporting large numbers of students, including international students. You will gain an understanding of student services policies and procedures within the School and wider university to support all stages of the student lifecycle, from induction to graduation, and support the administration of a wide range of tasks across multiple teams.
This role is based within the Student Engagement team, with the expectation to support other student services when required.
With the ability to work to tight deadlines, whilst managing conflicting priorities, the role-holder will be expected to provide high levels of customer service at all times with a friendly, approachable, ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Level 2 qualification including Maths and English. (Qualifications at this level include five GCSEs at grade A*-C/ grade 4-9. Please view the full list.) We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-UK qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
- Understanding of the routine practices and procedures used in an administrative office
- Ability to deal with confidential information appropriately
- Ability to effectively organise and prioritise own work and follow procedures, in order to produce work to a high standard, to required deadlines
- Accurately record and report information/data
- Use digital technologies including Google applications and/or Microsoft Office
- Communicate effectively in verbal and written formats
