As part of our continued growth, we're opening a brand-new branch in Edinburgh and are looking for an experienced Senior Numismatic Specialist to become one of the founding members of the team.
This is a unique opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for numismatics, coins and collectibles to combine their specialist knowledge with the opportunity to help shape and grow a new branch from day one.
Whilst initially a specialist role, there is a clear opportunity for this position to develop into a leadership role as the Edinburgh branch grows.

What you'll be doing
This is a varied, hands-on position combining specialist numismatic knowledge with operational leadership and exceptional customer service.
Working within a secure, high-value environment, you'll play a key role in delivering an outstanding client experience whilst supporting the day-to-day operation of the Edinburgh branch.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Meeting clients and providing expert advice on coins, bullion and collectibles.
- Assessing, valuing and purchasing numismatic items.
- Using your specialist knowledge to authenticate and identify historic coins and collections.
- Building trusted relationships with private clients, collectors and investors.
- Supporting customers through our buying, selling and storage services.
- Leading by example and working alongside the Client & Acquisitions Executive in the day-to-day running of the branch.
- Providing guidance, coaching and sharing specialist knowledge with colleagues.
- Completing customer due diligence and compliance requirements in line with Company procedures.
- Overseeing acquisitions, stock accuracy and secure handling of high-value goods.
- Supporting branch performance and helping establish excellent operational standards.
- Contributing to the future development and growth of the Edinburgh branch.
About you
We're looking for someone who combines specialist knowledge with excellent people skills.
You'll be passionate about numismatics, enjoy working directly with clients and be comfortable taking ownership within a small but ambitious team.
Essential
- Previous experience within the numismatic industry, coin dealing or an auction house.
- Strong knowledge of historic and modern coins.
- Experience identifying, assessing or valuing coins and collections.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently whilst supporting a small team.
- Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and computer systems.
Desirable
- Experience with paper money, medals or other collectibles.
- Experience buying or selling precious metals.
- Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and customer due diligence procedures.
- Experience working with high-value goods.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Fine Art, History, Numismatics or a related qualification.
