Job Summary
Baytree Garden Centre is a long-established family-run business with a strong reputation for quality, reliability and excellent customer service. We are looking for someone to join our team who is experienced and motivated, playing a key role in our Accounts Department of the business.
This is a hands-on role with multiple responsibilities; offering exposure across the full Accounts Department from Accounts Payable and Receivable through to management accounts, reconciliations, and intercompany work – supporting the day-today financial operations of the business.
You’ll be part of a small, collaborative Accounts team, working closely with one another as well as with the Finance Director - gaining exceptional exposure that will set you up for future progression within the business.
The role is permanent and full-time ranging from 30-30.75 hours per week. Flexible hours would be considered for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable and Receivable processes in Pegasus Opera.
- Oversee invoice and expense management, ensuring accurate coding and approvals.
- Prepare and process weekly supplier payments and maintain reconciliations.
- Perform bank, intercompany, and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and post monthly depreciation journals.
- Prepare prepayments and accruals schedules as necessary.
- Assist with or take ownership of management accounts, including variance analysis and month-end reporting.
- Support the Finance Director in ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.
- Oversee departmental costs and highlight over- or underspends using budgeting skills. Ensure these budgets are adhered to.
- Balancing tills, daily takings and cash handling.
Key Skills:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within finance.
- Accounting qualification essential
- Strong working knowledge of Accounts Programmes.
- Advanced Excel skills and knowledge of EPOS systems advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with all managers and directors across the business.
- Highly organised, proactive, and accountable with a strong eye for detail.
The salary for this role is dependent on experience. Full training will be given as necessary for the right candidate.
