Assistant Team Manager
Ash House – Cock Road Kingswood
We are looking for a confident, compassionate and well-organised Assistant Team Manager to join our care home in Kingswood. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior support worker or team leader who is ready to take the next step in their career and help lead a dedicated team supporting adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other mental health conditions.
Working as part of the home’s management team, you will help ensure residents receive safe, person-centred and high-quality care in line with CQC standards and company policies. You will provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and supervision to staff while promoting a nurturing environment where residents are supported to achieve positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Deputise for the Team Manager when required, supporting the efficient organisation and development of the home.
- Promote and maintain a safe, secure and nurturing environment that meets residents’ physical, emotional and social needs.
- Provide direct supervision, guidance and support to team leaders, support workers and waking night staff.
- Support staff to understand and positively respond to residents’ individual needs, agreed boundaries and behaviour support plans.
- Help ensure residents remain at the centre of their care by supporting the delivery, implementation and review of care and support plans.
- Monitor, supervise and direct staff practice in line with company policies, procedures, CQC expectations and relevant legislation.
- Maintain strong, respectful relationships with residents and support them to access social, recreational and community activities.
- Assist with identifying residents’ needs, contributing to reviews and supporting residents to maintain contact with family, friends and professionals.
- Support safeguarding practice, accurate record keeping, confidentiality and safe information sharing.
- Implement, monitor and review risk assessments relating to residents, the environment, equipment and day-to-day care practice.
- Administer medication safely in line with policy and procedure.
- Support high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, health and safety, COSHH, fire safety and regulatory compliance.
- In the Team Manager’s absence, assist with the effective use of the home’s financial resources within agreed guidelines.
About you
- You will have experience supporting adults with ASD, mental health conditions, complex needs or behaviours that may challenge.
- You will be confident supervising staff, modelling good practice and promoting a positive team culture.
- You will understand the importance of person-centred care, safeguarding, risk management and professional boundaries.
- You will be organised, reliable and able to communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, families and external professionals.
- You will be committed to promoting dignity, independence, choice, inclusion and positive outcomes for every resident.
Essential requirements
- completed, engaging or willing to engage on a Level 3 Diploma in Lead Adult Care, or equivalent, is essential.
- Previous experience supporting adults with autism and/or mental health conditions.
- Experience supervising or leading a team within a care environment.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
- Good understanding of safeguarding, medication management and CQC standards.

- Earn between £27,435.20 and £33,608.12.
- Sleep-in rate of £56.50 per night.
- Static 40- or 49-hour rota pattern. Shift days do not change. Over a two-week rota, you will work Monday, Tuesday, Friday PM, Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday AM. Hours will be allocated on these days between 8am and 10pm.
