Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Plant Fitter to join our bust Tool and Plant Hire Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of plant equipment through repairs, fabrication, and preventative maintenance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical and electrical background to contribute to the smooth operation of our facilities. The position involves heavy lifting, utilisation of hand and power tools, and working with various machinery including excavators and forklifts. A proactive approach to safety and customer service is essential.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on plant machinery to prevent breakdowns.
- Repair and fabricate components using welding, soldering and diagnostics.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to assemble, disassemble, and repair machinery.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, modifications, and inspections.
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts safely during maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, prioritising safe working practices at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service by liaising with operational teams regarding equipment status and repair timelines.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks as needed while adhering to manual handling guidelines.
Experience
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical work, or mechanical maintenance within an industrial setting.
- Familiarity reading and interpreting technical diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with equipment repair involving power tools and hand tools.
- Knowledge of plant machinery including excavators, forklifts, conveyors, or similar heavy equipment is highly desirable.
- Previous roles requiring heavy lifting and physical labour are advantageous.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to equipment maintenance and operation.
- Excellent organisational skills combined with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to quality workmanship, safety standards, and customer satisfaction while possessing the necessary technical skills to excel in this role.
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
