This role sits within Business Services, Route Services at Network Rail. Business Services is made up of two sub-business units, including Shared Services, which plays a vital role in supporting the wider organisation. Shared Services delivers efficient, high-quality operational support, driving consistency and value through streamlined processes and economies of scale. The team works collaboratively to provide reliable services to both internal stakeholders and external customers, ensuring the business operates effectively.
We are seeking an Area Support Analyst to support the development and maintenance of operational dashboards, primarily for our Payroll and Service Delivery teams. The ideal candidate will have good analytical skills, strong attention to detail and experience using Excel and Power BI. You will work with colleagues and stakeholders across Shared Services to understand reporting needs and provide clear, reliable performance information.
¿ Contract type: This is a permanent opportunity
¿ Hours: Full time 35 hours per week
¿ Band & Salary: Circa £27,960 per annum depending on skills and experience.
¿ Working pattern: Hybrid working: this role permits hybrid working, employees are expected to work from a Network Rail location for 60% of their weekly hours, typically 3 days for full time roles,

What you will be doing:
¿ Develop, maintain and improve KPI dashboards, reports and visualisations using Power BI, Excel and other reporting tools.
¿ Support the production of regular performance reporting for operational teams, managers and key stakeholders.
¿ Work with operational teams to understand reporting requirements and help translate them into meaningful insight.
¿ Extract, check and interpret data from multiple systems and sources, helping to ensure reporting outputs are accurate and reliable.
¿ Follow agreed governance and controls around reporting processes, ensuring compliance with the Shared Services control framework.
¿ Provide support and guidance to colleagues on performance reporting and visualisation tools.
What are we looking for:
- Demonstrable experience of managing improvement projects and processing high volume activity
- Exceptional customer focus/engagement/stakeholder management skills
- Proven influencing, networking and stakeholder management skills at senior management level.
- Experience managing, leading and motivating large multi-disciplined teams
- Proven analytical skills
- Experience of delivering continuous improvement programmes
- Demonstrable experience in leading service, process and system improvements.
- Experience working at a similar level within a multi-faceted organisation
- Excellent communication skills
What could set you apart when applying:
¿ Experience developing or supporting dashboards and visualisations using Power BI.
¿ Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
¿ Working knowledge of Microsoft Copilot and its application within Microsoft 365.
¿ Experience supporting KPI, SLA or operational performance reporting.
¿ Familiarity with Oracle eBusiness Suite.
