About Us
The Harborne Sash Window Company is a family-run specialist in premium timber, uPVC and aluminium windows and doors, based in Harborne, Birmingham, with a second showroom in Leamington Spa. Founded in 2006 we've completed over 3,200 projects across nearly twenty years of trading.
Our work is timber-led — sash, casement and bespoke joinery for period and character homes across Birmingham and Warwickshire, including many properties in conservation areas and listed buildings. Our reputation is built on craftsmanship and care, not on being the loudest or the cheapest, and we expect everyone who represents us on site to share that standard.
The Role
We're looking for a Fitter's Mate to support our installation lead, working across the Midlands. This is a hands-on, entry-level role in the trade — you'll be working alongside an experienced fitter on customers' homes, learning the craft from the ground up, with a genuine route to becoming a qualified fitter yourself
What You'll Be Doing
- Assisting our fitting team with the installation of timber, uPVC and aluminium windows and doors in customers' homes
- Loading, unloading and transporting materials and tools safely to and from site
- Removing old frames and glazing, and disposing of waste responsibly
- Use hand tools and power tools safely to cut, shape, and fit components according to project specifications
- Supporting with measuring, lifting, positioning and fitting
- Keeping the work area clean, tidy and safe throughout the job — many of the homes we work in are period properties, and care and presentation matter
- Follow safety protocols diligently, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Representing the company professionally and courteously while working in customers' homes
Requirements
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling, ladder work and being outdoors
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Reliable, punctual and a genuine team player
- Willing to learn and take direction, with an eye for detail and respect for customers' homes
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards
- Polite, friendly and professional — able to communicate well with both colleagues and clients
- A full, clean UK driving licence — essential, as our team travels to sites across Birmingham, Warwickshire and the surrounding areas
- Have knowledge of joinery, perhaps you attend college or have recently finished and are looking for full time employment.
What We Offer
- Salary up to £30,000 per year, depending on experience
- Full training on our products and installation techniques, including timber and period-property specialist work
- A genuine path to progress into a qualified Fitter role
- Uniform provided
- 28 days holiday (including bank holidays)
Pay: Up to £30,000.00 per year
Work Location: On the road
