What Is Locum Dental Nursing Like?
Agency nursing gives you the opportunity to work in different dental practices rather than being tied to one practice every day.
You'll meet different teams, work with different dentists and experience a variety of practice environments.
We understand that moving from a permanent practice into locum work can feel like a big step. That's why you'll have support from our bookings team throughout.
Your coordinator will get to know:
- Where you like to work
- How far you're willing to travel
- Which days you're available
- The types of practices you prefer
- Your experience and areas of expertise
We'll then work with you to build your diary and arrange suitable bookings.
As you build relationships with practices, you may find that they request you by name and ask you to return.
Flexible PAYE Agency Work
You'll be employed directly by First Agency Direct Ltd on a zero-hours PAYE contract.
This means you can enjoy the flexibility of agency work while still being an employee of the agency.
There is a minimum availability requirement of 3 weekdays per week, but we'll work with you around your availability to arrange suitable bookings.
Whether you're looking for full-time work, part-time work or greater flexibility around your existing commitments, agency nursing can give you more control over your working week.

We're looking for Dental Nurses who are confident walking into a new practice and quickly becoming part of the team.
You'll need to be:

- Able to work effectively with different dentists and dental teams
- Comfortable working independently
- Professional and supportive when joining busy practices
- Committed to providing excellent patient care

Requirements
To join our team, you will need:
- Valid GDC registration
- Recognised UK Dental Nursing qualification
- Up-to-date mandatory CPD
- Hepatitis B titre/blood test results confirming immunity
- Full UK driving licence
- Access to your own vehicle
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to travel between dental practices
Medical indemnity is provided as part of your employment.
Training & CPD
We support our nurses with keeping their mandatory training up to date.
Core CPD includes:
- CPR & Medical Emergencies
- Cross Infection
- Safeguarding Adults & Children – Levels 1 & 2
