Role Overview
Our Kitchen assistants are responsible for delivering a high-quality, consistent, and timely food offering that helps set the tone for the guest’s stay and overall experience.
This is a key operational role where attention to detail, organisation, and pride in presentation are essential. You will play a vital part in ensuring that every guest receives a warm, efficient, and memorable meal during their stay.
Working in a team driven environment, you will take ownership of your service while supporting wider kitchen operations and maintaining Òstair Consultancy’s standards for quality, safety, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery
- Prepare and deliver a high-quality food offering, to agreed standards
- Ensure all dishes are freshly prepared, well-presented, and served in a timely manner
- Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation
- Manage service flow to ensure efficient delivery during peak times
Preparation & Organisation
- Prepare mise en place for allocated service, ensuring readiness for all expected covers and walk ins
- Manage stock levels for your allocated menu items, ensuring availability without waste
- Support ordering and stock rotation (FIFO principles)
- Ensure all equipment is set up, clean, and functioning before service
Quality & Standards
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety at all times
- Ensure compliance with all Food Safety and HACCP procedures
- Follow all recipes, specifications, and brand standards
- Conduct regular checks to ensure food quality is consistently high
Guest Experience
- Work closely with front-of-house teams to ensure a seamless guest experience
- Be responsive to guest requests, dietary requirements, and special orders
- Take pride in contributing to a positive and memorable guest experience
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with the wider hotel and front-of-house teams
- Communicate effectively during service to ensure smooth operations
- Support junior team members where required
- Contribute to a positive, professional kitchen culture
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace at all times
- Report any issues or risks promptly

Experience & Background
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen or food service role preferred
- Basic food preparation and cooking skills
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
- Experience in hotel or hospitality environments advantageous

- Positive guest feedback relating to allocated menu experience
