As a Group Tax Accountant you will be part of the Tax and Customs Team responsible for Mountain Warehouse's day to day global tax compliance. The team collectively ensures that Mountain Warehouse meets its global tax compliance requirements, which includes corporation tax, indirect tax, customs and duty and payroll taxes.
Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, the successful candidate will:
- Take ownership of the process for the more complex VAT and sales tax returns globally for the Mountain Warehouse organisation.
- Review the less complex global VAT and sales tax returns.
- Prepare and submit other compliance obligations such as Digital Platform Reporting, Intrastat, EC sales lists, etc.
- Assist with the response to any local tax authority enquiries.
- Take responsibility for researching, providing technical analysis of and resolving queries as they arise.
- Take ownership of certain tax processes and systems, including understanding the current process and proactively leading the continuous improvement of them.
- Act as a point of contact for other finance teams such as Accounts Payable, Revenue Operations and Customs as well as understanding the impact that their processes may have on tax processes.
- Provide tax training to the business and colleagues in the team, with support from the Senior Tax Manager.
- Work closely with other members of the Group Tax Team on ad-hoc projects such as capital allowances, transfer pricing analysis and systems process developments.
- Take ownership of the global corporation tax compliance process, including collating data, liaising with external advisors, managing instalment payments, and supporting the preparation of year-end group tax provisioning and disclosures.
- Be responsible for the reconciliation of tax accounts and preparing and posting journals as part of the month end process.

Preferred experience: Chartered accounting or tax qualification. Will also consider part-qualified candidates (with 1-2 exams remaining).
- 3-5 years of corporation tax and/or VAT experience.
- Track record of delivering tax compliance effectively and efficiently.
- Understanding of accounting principles.
- A pragmatic problem-solving approach.
- Some experience in a fast-paced or commercial environment.
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and get into and question the detail.
- Proficiency in utilising Excel to manage, analyse and reconcile data.
- Preferred experience with an ERP.
