Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and patient-focused Qualified Locum Dispensing Assistant to join our busy community pharmacy team.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the dispensary and pharmacy, helping to ensure that prescriptions are prepared accurately, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.
Duties
- Receive and process prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
- Assemble and prepare prescription items under the supervision of the Responsible Pharmacist.
- Select, label, package and dispense medicines accurately.
- Assist with the preparation of monitored dosage systems and other compliance aids, where applicable.
- Maintain accurate records and follow all relevant pharmacy procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and other healthcare professionals.
- Handle patient queries professionally and refer clinical questions to the Pharmacist.
- Assist with stock management, including ordering, receiving, checking and storing medicines.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe dispensary and pharmacy environment.
- Support the pharmacy team with general day-to-day duties.
- Follow all company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), health and safety requirements, and confidentiality requirements.
- Work effectively as part of a wider pharmacy team.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience working as a Dispensing Assistant in a community pharmacy.
- Have good knowledge of dispensing processes and pharmacy procedures.
- Be accurate, organised and able to work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Be able to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate a professional, reliable and positive attitude.
- Understand the importance of patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Be flexible and adaptable when working in different pharmacy environments.
A recognised pharmacy qualification or experience working towards a pharmacy qualification would be advantageous, although relevant experience will also be considered.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working as a Dispenser.
- Familiarity with pharmacy dispensing systems (e.g., ProScript).
- Experience supporting pharmacy services such as Pharmacy First workflows.
