Textile Operative – Sewing / Bartack Experience
We are looking for an experienced Textile Operative with sewing machine experience, particularly bartacking, to join our manufacturing team at our Tweedbank site.
This is a hands-on production role within our knitwear manufacturing operation. We are particularly interested in hearing from someone who is confident using an industrial sewing machine and carrying out bartack work, although experience in other areas of knitwear or textile production would also be beneficial.
Skills and Experience
Previous sewing machine experience is essential, with bartack experience strongly preferred.
Experience in any of the following would also be advantageous:
- Industrial sewing machines
- Bartacking
- Trimming and finishing
- Linking
- Mending
- Pressing
- Knitting machinery
- Quality inspection / quality assurance
- Cutting
You should have a good eye for detail, take pride in producing work to a high standard and be comfortable working as part of a busy manufacturing team.
Responsibilities
- Operate industrial sewing machinery and hand tools safely and accurately
- Carry out bartacking and other garment finishing operations
- Produce work to the required quality standard and highlight any issues
- Inspect work for faults or defects
- Support other areas of textile production where required
- Work with colleagues to meet production requirements and deadlines
- Follow Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
- Help maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
