Job Summary
Puma Berry Ltd is seeking an experienced SC-Cleared Asset & Configuration Management Lead to support a UK defence programme.
This is an Outside IR35 contract opportunity, subject to Puma Berry Ltd being awarded the relevant client contract. You will lead the creation of an authoritative and auditable digital asset baseline for a secure, complex technology estate.
The role requires a hands-on lead with strong experience in IT asset management, configuration management, CMDBs, asset discovery, data quality and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead asset and configuration-management activities to establish an authoritative, auditable asset baseline covering physical and logical assets, configuration items, ownership, custodianship, locations and dependencies.
- Define asset and configuration-item data standards, mandatory attributes, ownership, custodianship, relationships and dependencies.
- Plan and oversee asset discovery, validation, normalisation and reconciliation across technical and operational data sources.
- Establish data-quality controls, reporting, exception management and evidence to support audit and assurance activities.
- Lead workshops with technical, operational, security and supplier stakeholders to resolve asset-data gaps and agree ownership.
- Identify configuration and asset-management risks, recommend remediation actions and support sustainable handover arrangements.
- Provide technical and team leadership, review outputs and drive high-quality delivery.
Experience
- 8+ years’ commercial experience in IT asset management, configuration management, CMDB management, IT service management or a related discipline.
- Proven experience establishing, improving or reconciling asset and configuration baselines within large or complex technology estates.
- Strong practical knowledge of hardware, software and logical assets, configuration items, ownership, dependencies and lifecycle management.
- Experience leading technical teams or complex delivery work packages.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to turn complex asset data into clear, practical actions.
Desirable
- Experience in MOD, defence, government, critical-national-infrastructure or similarly regulated environments.
- Experience with CMDB, ITAM, discovery or service-management tools, such as ServiceNow, BMC, Ivanti or equivalent.
- Experience using discovery, reconciliation and reporting tools to improve asset-data quality.
- Knowledge of ITIL, ISO 20000, ISO 27001 or configuration-control processes.
- Experience working with security, infrastructure, operational and supplier teams.
Requirements
- Active SC security clearance is essential. Candidates who are only eligible for SC clearance cannot be considered.
- Strong technical-delivery and team-leadership capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a client-facing, secure environment.
- Applicants must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK.
Experience
- Asset and Configuration Management: 5 years (required)
- CMDB, ITAM or Asset-Baseline Delivery: 5 years (required)
- Technical Delivery or Team Leadership: 5 years (required)
- MOD, Defence or Secure-Environment Experience: 3 years (preferred)
On-site Requirement
Hybrid remote, with on-site delivery at Chicksands, Bedfordshire. The role is expected to require approximately two overnight visits per month.
Travel and Expenses
The advertised day rate is all-inclusive. The successful contractor will be responsible for arranging and funding their own travel, accommodation and subsistence associated with on-site attendance.
Pay: £650.00 per day
