Hands-On Project Manager – Valve Repairs & Overhauls

HVL Solutions is looking for an experienced, hands-on Project Manager with extensive knowledge of on-site valve repairs, maintenance and overhauling within the water industry.
This is not purely an office-based management position. The successful candidate must be technically competent, comfortable working alongside site teams and capable of managing projects from the initial survey through to successful completion.
Key responsibilities:
- Surveying and assessing valves, actuators and associated equipment
- Managing valve repair and overhaul projects on clean and wastewater sites
- Providing practical, hands-on technical support to site engineers
- Diagnosing valve, gearbox, actuator and operating issues
- Preparing accurate scopes of work, technical reports and material requirements
- Planning labour, equipment, lifting arrangements and specialist resources
- Ensuring RAMS and all site documentation are in place before work begins
- Liaising professionally with customers, suppliers and internal departments
- Monitoring programme progress, costs, quality and site performance
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive experience in the UK water or wastewater industry
- Strong knowledge of valve repairs, maintenance and in-situ overhauls
- Practical experience with gate, butterfly, knife gate, non-return and other water-industry valves
- Knowledge of actuators, gearboxes, penstocks and associated mechanical equipment
- The ability to survey work, identify technical solutions and produce accurate project scopes
- Strong leadership, organisation and customer-management skills
- A thorough understanding of site safety, confined spaces and permit-controlled working
- A full UK driving licence
- A flexible approach to UK travel and emergency work when required
Relevant confined-space, lifting, mechanical and water-industry qualifications would be advantageous.
