Project Manager - Repairs & Maintenance (City Building Glasgow)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Repairs & Maintenance Manager to oversee repair and maintenance works delivered under the City Building Glasgow contract. The successful candidate will manage projects from initial inspection through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
The role covers a variety of external repairs and maintenance works, including both soft and hard landscaping and fencing installations and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise daily with City Building Project Managers regarding allocated repair and maintenance works.
- Attend sites to assess repair requirements, take photographs, and prepare accurate quotations.
- Review photographs and job information supplied by City Building where site visits are not required.
- Prepare quotations and submit invoices using Schedule of Rates (SOR) codes.
- Plan, programme, and manage operatives and subcontractors to ensure authorised works are completed within agreed timescales.
- Coordinate labour, materials, and plant to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, suppliers, and operatives by telephone and email.
- Ensure all works comply with quality standards and health & safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate job records, quotations, invoices, photographs, and correspondence using Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Types of Work
The successful candidate will manage a range of repair and maintenance projects, including:
- Soft landscaping works (turfing, planting, grounds maintenance, reinstatement works).
- Hard landscaping works (paving, kerbing, concrete repairs, footpaths, and external surfaces).
- Palisade fencing installation, repairs, and replacements.
- General fencing repairs and renewals.
- External property and environmental repairs.
- Reactive and planned maintenance works.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a repairs, maintenance, construction, or contracts management role.
- Experience pricing and invoicing works using Schedule of Rates (SOR) codes.
- Good knowledge of landscaping and fencing works, including palisade fencing.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
- Accurate typing and data entry skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Professional and confident telephone manner with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, project managers, suppliers, and operatives.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on local authority or social housing contracts.
- Knowledge of City Building or similar framework contracts.
- SMSTS, SSSTS, or IOSH qualification.
- Experience managing directly employed operatives and subcontractors.
